Project Number: 5052 and 5053
Situation: Yemen is a beautiful country in the Arabian Peninsula, with stunning mountain views and unique architectural buildings. All the same, the population is poor, one reason being that women and girls hardly receive any education - 57% of 6 to 15 year old girls do not go to school - and have a hard time participating in the labour force.
Health care is another issue in Yemen, as it is simply insufficient. Most people have not received enough education concerning health and hygiene.

Project Description: PartnerAid started working with the health ministry in Yemen in 2001, and started two projects in Ibb and Ta’iz. The aim of these projects is the sustainable improvement of people’s health. Therefore we do not only treat our patients, but also teach them about health issues.
Our local coworkers are continually trained, so that in the long run, they can take over and treat their own people without foreign assistance. We are also training teachers to include health issues in their classes, and are setting up maternity clinics, in which midwives are trained. In addition, local health care workers receive English lessons, so that they have access to a wider range of medical literature.
