Project Number: 3151
Situation: Ethiopia is one of the poorest countries in the world. The many wars in and around the country and the high AIDS rate continually interfere with economic growth. Harare is a city in the east of the country with a population of about 200,000 people. The city is multicultural and many different religions are represented here. Many people are needy, and children are the ones most affected by the conflicts and by AIDS.

Project Description: Partner Aid International is supporting the work amongst children by New Life Faith Ministry, a locally recognized and respected organization. New Life has opened an orphanage for about 25 deprived children, many of them orphans. The children have a home here and can also receive official schooling.
Additionally, a sports program for the youth of the city has been started, in which boys are trained in football and are also personally supported. Football is the most popular sport in Ethiopia and also gives coaches a good opportunity to convey values such as discipline, team work and sportsmanship. Young people can interact with others their age from different cultural and religious backgrounds, promoting peaceful relations between the different cultures in Ethiopia. The New Life football teams are among the most popular and most successful in Harare.
