Projekt Number: 6251
Situation: Indonesia is a multicultural country representing many different religions, and has the world’s fourth largest population. Even though most people have strong feelings of nationalism, several conflicts have occurred in the last few years, such as the bombing in Bali by Islamic terrorists, and the conflicts in Aceh.
Indonesia’s economic performance is rather poor, as the country was quite strongly affected by the financial crisis in Asia in 1997. Although there has been economic development since then, a great number of people still live beneath the poverty level. Also, Aceh was hit severely by the Tsunami in 2004, and the rebuilding of the region took place at a very slow rate due to the conflicts.
Project description: Partner Aid International has been active in Indonesia since 2008. Our colleague on site has established contact with several individuals and organizations, such as University institutes, aid organizations, foundations and business people. Partner Aid International is offering consultation and aims to support their capacity building process.
