Update on PAI's response to the emergency in Kyrgyzstan.

The staff of PAI are working diligently to assess the needs and mobilize response in the areas of Kyrgyzstan affected by the recent violence. There are urgent immediate needs to provide food, water and shelter to both the people who have been displaced by the violence and those who have returned to their homes to find them damaged with limited food and water available. Below is a list of some of the things the PAI is doing and planning to do in the very near future. Please consider making a gift to help with this work. PAI is able to accept donations from Europe, the UK and the United States.

What is being done now:

  • Working with governments and other agencies to coordinate efforts and need assessment
  • In initial talks to help recruit medical personnel
  • Identifying and contacting people on the ground in Kyrg who are able to communicate and help assess the needs there
Urgent needs that PAI is seeking to address:
  • Identify  International and Local NGO's to partner with
  • Some people have returned to their home areas and will need food, water and building materials
  • Many are in camps in Kyrg near the Uzbek border. These people have immediate need for food, water and shelter.
Some kind of peacekeeping force is an urgent need to quell the violence. Please pray for cooperation and swift action from the governments and agencies who can meet this need.
