The increasing clashes in South Darfur are forcing more and more people to leave their homes daily, to look for shelter, health care and food in the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps and safe havens in North Darfur. The areas affected by the clashes are growing larger every day. The PAI Sudan Country Director reports on the urgency of the situation:

"We have already added over 4000 IDPs to Zamzam IDP camp here and many more are on the road. 90% of the arrivals are women and children. The men are staying with the animals in other locations."

The fighting has reached up to areas not far from Dar Al Salam, where PAI operates a clinic. People wounded in the fighting have come to the hospital and need medical care. The PAI-Team works alongside other humanitarian organizations to assist those people in need of surgery. Dar Al Salam is a transit point for some IDP´s and a possible end destination for other IDPs, even though no "official" IDP camp exists in the location. Resources are limited yet PAI continues to provide medical care and other assistance to the people wherever possible.

Elsewhere in North Darfur, PAI maintains humanitarian services in Al Salam IDP Camp and in East Jebel Mara.

With more IDPs on the move, more resources and support is needed for men, women and children to survive. For PAI is to help these displaced people - we need YOUR help!
