PAI responds to NWFP Crisis

Wednesday, June 10t, 2009

Partner Aid International has been responding to the Crisis caused by violent conflict in North-West Pakistan since the conflict increased at the Afghan-Pakistani border at the latter part of 2008. The fighting between government troops and militants caused mass dispakcement of Internally Dispalced People (IDPs) to flee to viallges ouside of the conflict area. to be given shelter by host communities and to IDP camps, such as Jalozai camp, Peshawar.

It is in Jalozai camp that PAI staff has been working alongside the UN, Pakistani Government and other NGOs to provide relief, particularly to the youth in the form of warm clothing and mattresses over the winter months.

With the increase in violent conflict since May 2009 and up to 2 million displaced from their homes, forced to live in very difficult conditions with very limited access to essential services, PAI is in the process of gearing up it's response. PAI's disaster management specialist has just completed an assessment of the area highlighting key areas PAI can intervene to relieve the sffering of so many and help them tas they look to return to their homes as soon as possible.

We need your help to make this reality. PAI is an organisation funded by charitable giving.  The more the public give the more PAI is able to work alongside communities and work effectively - always with long term recovery in mind.

We need your support in order to move forward with the following projects:

  • Early recovery projects such as - agriculture, seed and fertilizer provision due to the rapid increase in seed costs and essential need not to miss the planting season
  • Medical Clinics
  • Liasing with communities and supporting them in the process of returning to their villages safely.
