PAI is especially focusing on empowering communities to overcome poverty and crisis. Our faith and our christian ethos form the foundation on which we act.
Community development projects, institutional development, relief, consulting and training for community empowerment as well as advocacy for affected communities are important aspects of our work.
In order to fullfill our mission in accordance with our core values, we seek to be...
We see the culture of a community as a core factor in all interactions and activities. Cultural norms can have a positive or negative contribution to change.
We believe all people have a right to make their own choices and decisions within their community context. Our respect for all people motivate us to, wherever possible, help people reach their potential through training, education and capacity building activities. For this process to be successful it has to be desired and owned by the communities themselves.
We recognize that when we partner with others, what we can produce is much richer than what we could achieve alone. Collaboration includes working as partners with the local communities in brainstorming and problem solving. PAI values the importance of involving stakeholders at every stage of project implementation in order to create a stronger, more relevant output than can be replicated. We work strategically with local and national governments, NGOs and other local, national and international organisations and institutions to achieve greatest impact.
We believe we must be diligent in all of our work and act responsibly according to the expectations of our partners, donors and other stakeholders. The effectiveness of our work depends on our professionalism. This requires adhering to standards of good practice in both our systems and practice.
As an organisation engaged in sustainable development we are committed to the local communities we are partnering with; together we will see transformation. We commit to taking a holistic view of the existing inhibitors of development and to actively consider them as we work with the community in programme design. We commit to building trust with the community enabling their ownership of their capacity building process.
