PAI sends WHO Emergency Health Kits as relief, providing medical care for 30.000 conflict affected persons for 1 month. PAI has established coordination and has support staff in Osh, Kyrgyzstan.

The situation remains very tense in Osh. Especially the barricaded and remote areas suffer from poor access to health care and the lack of medical supplies.

Since 11.06.10 violence and ethnic clashes have lead to widespread unrest and devastation in Osh and the whole Southern Kyrgyzstan area. Press reports talk about 110 people killed and approximately 2000 people injured. Independend sources, like Human Rights Watch talk about 500 people being dead.

Lack of food, lack of safe drinking water, the distruction of infrastructure has let to destablized scenario, where people need help now and on the longterm.

PAI is supporting humanitarian aid, rehabilitation and reconciliation efforts. PAI is familiar to the region. PAI at headquarters and field level speak the local languages of Southern Kyrgyzstan and are familiar to the area. PAI has supported 3 projects in the past 10 years in Kyrgyzstan.
